TrumatterLiving: Embracing Autumn
Easy fall bouquets, 2 Autumn palettes for your home, Apple pie, Scents that'll wrap you in cozy and more in this issue as we usher autumn into our heart and home.
First things first. Do we have Autumn in Mumbai? Not the way we see it on television, we don’t. No yellow leaves crunching under our boots. No frosty windows. No pumpkin patches. No chance of wearing fleece. And yet, we have our own Autumn.
“Glittering crowds and shimmering clouds”
In the last week of August, the sky opens up. Dark, grey, sinister rain clouds are swiftly replaced with fluffy, happy, white ones and you can see them dot the vast expanse of blue. The many festivals, already lined up, would make the air ebullient, and if you are observant, as night falls, you will feel the nip in the air. Look closely and you will see a few trees turning brown, the bright greens of monsoon giving way for the ritualistic fall yellowing. The sunsets will become more orange, the shops would overflow with people buying new clothes, the world would appear as if brimming with a renewed sense of hope, and like Autumn in New York, Autumn in Mumbai also transforms the slums into Mayfair.
And it’ll be criminal to not embrace all of this, through what you do best. Sure I include a bit of pumpkin spice and all things nice because I love how they are so evocative of autumn but even if you disagree with these associations, there is plenty of autumn things around us to get inspired from.
Mix and match our ideas with what you feel is fitting to have your own kind of Autumn! Your Autumn.

And nope, its not orange. Keeping aside the usual orange and rust tones, we explore a bit of warm, moody blues with taupe this season that can very well instill the cozy you are after. We are also loving how two primary colors, when altered their temperature can bring about a soothing, moody palette. And contrary to what people think blue stands for- which is either summer or depressing, this is neither. Rather, it is quite the opposite!
My favorite Apple Pie Recipe
Sweet, tart, crispy, mushy, nutty and fragrant from all that cinnamon and butter- it is a dessert that personifies cozy and I cant resist baking it. And once you have had this apple pie, you will never quite go back to the store bought one.
I have detailed out everything in here. Head on over and save this recipe. Scroll down to find more pie recipes.
Fall Scents for your soul
Pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon are evocative of autumn. But so is the smell of a musty library and old books. So is a hot cup of latte. So is the deep, caramel-y smell of maple. So is a heap of leaves. And this is also why I love armatuer candles. It’s not just about fragrance. It’s scent that make you tread the labyrinth of time, cherishing the wonderful phenomena called memories. Oh, and that sweet crackle of wood wick candles! One of the most endearing sounds in the world.
Adding armatuers own words in the snippets below, with my attestation!
I have personally used Armatuer since 2020 and I never quite feel the need to look for another. They speak to my heart, directly.
